THE BLACK SOUNDS OF TAP DANCING

Tap dancers defy gravity,

jiggering straight up a wall

with snap, slap and clout

at the speed of light.

Dancing beyond visible space,

they leave footprints of angels

that shift tectonic plates.

Dance even standing still.

Like eagles looping through thermals,

they syncopate as fast as a Gatling gun.

The audience stands, and can’t stop

clapping to the rhythm of the beat.

These tap dancers have duende.
